December 2016 Update
Shoowee, it has been a MONTH.
A few weeks ago, just around the time the world was ending (RIP Leonard, RIP Leon, RIP America), we went to Nashville and cut a record. That town has seen its fair share of musical magic, and it was humbling to feel closer to that magic, even for a week. Whether we were able to tap into it ourselves remains to be seen, but we're very hopeful. Luckily, we were aided by our very own Nashville alchemist, Kai Welch; producer, multi-instrumentalist, avid Go-Karter. We learned a ton from working with him.
Now, we're fresh off of our last tour of 2016, in the coniferous confines of the Pacific Northwest, and find ourselves confronted with a few months away from Odell Fox gigs. Some members of the band are opting to use the impending hiatus to go rafting in Chile, not mentioning any names. Other members tried to get a head start on resting up by committing to a Recovery Day in lieu of a Recovery Week, and slept until 2:00pm today before brunching at 5:00. Also, no names mentioned. Hans, we're sure, has used his time very wisely.
Finally, at the end of this weird year, we'd like to say this:
We are grateful for the freedoms we are afforded by this country, for the beauty in this country, and most of all, for the diverse, bizarre, proud fellow citizens we’ve already met, and have yet to meet on this country’s highways and byways. We also know we all have a long, long way to go to heal the wounds and flaws that have riddled the foundation of this nation’s narrative. We don’t know exactly how we as a band can contribute to encourage the dialogue, but we want to make clear our intention to not only improve as artists and entertainers, but also as Americans and activists. We can only get through this by working together.
Meanwhile, more recorded music soon, friends! Stay tuned, tunedawgs.
