Fall is finally here. The crisp chill has fallen over Austin like cool, clean bedsheets on a hotel bed, and it’s like the entire city has breathed a sigh of relief. Everyone is walking around with dry foreheads, silly grins, and sweaters draped over their tanned forearms. It’s a scene. It’s so pleasant that no one even seems too bothered by the influx of visitors here for Austin City Limits Festival. We’re somewhat miffed that the fest asked Radiohead to play both weekends and didn’t ask us to play at all. But it’s ok because it meant we got to see them before we leave for tour. It marked the first time our band has seen those titans of rock, and it was an inspiring performance, even from a quarter mile away. Don’t be surprised if the next time you see Odell Fox, we too will have two identical bald drummers.
October promises to be a very busy and exciting month. We’ll be traveling to three different states in three different time zones. We’ll be playing house shows, political fundraisers, and intimate venues. Though it’s proving harder and harder to leave our new home, we’re so grateful for our coming opportunities, and we can’t wait to see the friends and family along the way. And ALSO, we alluded to this in the last newsletter, but just last night, floating in like some divine comet, we were joined by Brooklyn’s sweetest bass prince, Hans Bilger. Hans is a dear friend from school, and a wicked talented musician, and he’s decided to jump on the crazy train and join us for touring and recording the next couple months. Take that Radiohead.
Please check out our tour dates if you’re near Austin, California, Alaska, or Colorado. Please check out our Patreon page since soon we’ll have a new hungry mouth to feed! And the Odell Sox are in, track us down and get yourself a pair.
