Spread your arms and hold your breath and always trust your cape
- The late great Texas legend, Guy Clark, from The Cap
It's a fine, somewhat muggy, September eve in Austin, TX. Raph is due in any minute from a harrowing 4 day drive from yankee land. Guy Clark's rhymes are running through my mind, my instruments are thanking me for some moisture in the air, chacos are slowly drying out, the ceiling fan whirs on.
And he's through the door, dog in toe, THE BAND IS BACK TOGETHER!
We have many exciting newses this fall, lots of shows in Austin, California, and Colorado, a burgeoning new band member, socks, and a NEW RECORD likely to be recorded in Nashville this November!
To make all this possible we are exploring a cool new platform, Patreon, a way for you to join the Odell Fox community as our personal patron - more on that below.
Always trust your cape,
Jenner & Raph
TOUR DATES | FALL 2016
Look out for more in the coming weeks...
We’re excited to try out an innovative online service called Patreon. It’s a website that allows our friends and fans (people like you) to support the band with a recurring monthly donation. This donation can be as small or as large as you feel comfortable, it’s just a way to give us a little financial buoyancy as we keep paddling forward on this wild and scenic music business river creek whitewater.
Patreon supporters will receive exclusive perks like music lessons, song demos, online shows, haikus, and much more. Check them out here.
We think this is awesome. But please let us know if you have any ideas of things you’d like to see offered.
If it needs more explaining…think of it like an ongoing Kickstarter that helps us continue to grow and have a working career in music. You are becoming a patron of the arts, sort of like medieval times, kings, queens, the pope...You all get to be that important. The more you give, the less Jenner has to work as a pedi-cab driver and Raph has to buy discount dog food.
Odell Fox Recommends:
Going outside: On the back of 4 months of sleeping under the stars, I’ve been thinking about how cool it is to put ourselves out into the forces of nature, in whatever fashion, to see how we do. Because the oceans, rivers, mountains, birds to identify, trail through the woods, night sky, rock wall, climbing tree, whatever it may be, brings its very-unpredictable-best every day. And there’s something deeply gratifying about these things we can’t control, and seeing how we match up to their challenges. Many days we will slip, tire, blister, or get a good story to laugh about. But some glorious days our energy level will rise to meet the challenges and we will float. Today, get outside, put on those muddy shoes, see what happens.
Freddy and Francine: Gung Ho, their 2016 release. We met these guys last fall and just caught up the other day for lunch, a duo we respect and admire, they sing like hell, and it’s heavenly, take a listen.
Revisionist History: We're always looking for new things to listen to in the car. Here's a podcast from Malcom Gladwell. He doesn’t need much of an introduction. Finds the interesting bits in all sorts of subjects. We're digging this short 30-45 min podcast.
