August 2017: Sowing Seeds for a busy Fall
Wow-wee guys. It has been QUITE a couple of months. We've each been adventuring, collecting experiences and stories to last us through the winter. Maybe some will make it into songs, maybe some will just be little pieces of medicine to mull on during moments of exhaustion on the road, channeling Wordsworth in a minivan. We did what we each felt was important to us, followed our guts, even though it took us apart from each other for a spell. We've been like our dear friends at Spoon Full Farm, nurturing our soil and planting seeds for hopefully rich harvests in the near future...
But I won't bore you with the flowery details, because we've got some real news to share in this newsletter! Waddya know!
First off, our much-anticipated, highly-touted, accidentally pre-released new record Thank You will officially debut on Tuesday, September 5th, with an exclusive stream on The Bluegrass Situation. We are really grateful to the folks down there, and super excited to be featured on the site. The album will be totally out and about, streaming, spinning, what have you, on September 12th.
This coming Friday, August 4th, we'll be releasing the first track off the new record, "Medicine Man", for purchase on Bandcamp. The website announcedthat they'll be donating 100% of their proceeds on that day to the Transgender Law Center, in response to, you know, all the garbage. If you've been meaning to buy our entire digital discography, including solo releases, Friday's the day to do it!
And on August 29th we'll be finally unveiling Kendall Rock's incredible music video for the album's title track, featuring Austin's own "Sparkle Joe" Ridell (pictured above). We'll be offering an exclusive first-look to our Patreon subscribers a week prior. With the video and some new merch coming down the pike, now is a great time to start supporting us on Patreon! Over the past year it's been an amazing safety net when we're confronted with sudden expenses, i.e. van repairs, pedal steel overdubs, etc. We so appreciate it.
Phewf! It's a lot to keep track of, believe us we know, but we'll be posting reminders DONCHA worry. As we look toward the long road ahead, it feels really good too look back at the miles we've already traveled. One thing is for sure: we're not a baby band anymore! We're a voice-cracking, fuzzy-crotched, stinky-pit, knees bouncing in the back of the Volvo on the way to Junior Prom, Adolescent Band! Thanks for coming along with us on this coming-of-age journey.
Oh, one more thing is for sure: we need a manager! If you, or someone you know, is a motivated, organized, energetic person with an interest in building a career in marketing, money management, and the music business, give us a holler! No experience necessary. Only requisites are passion for the music, a positive attitude, and patience.
We're trying to catch lightning in a bottle here folks, and though everything can change in an instant, putting ourselves in position for it doesn't happen overnight.
Love you all to bits, thanks for reading. More soon!
